Effective Brand Management
The first key phase of an efficient brand management process is to carefully scope the project. We will provide the specialist resource and experience required to work with you to create a detailed picture of the full list of products required. We will then create a master summary of all items required, with full product specifications and agreed order quantities relative to your historical & forecast usage.
As part of our audit process we also offer technical advice to provide you the opportunity, where deemed appropriate, to produce products SMARTER in respect of both functionality and cost. This process will form a key consideration for us when planning all ‘waves’ of production and issue for each stage of the project.
Ongoing management of your products including the storage and distribution of your printed matter from our print management facility would also enable us to provide you with detailed management reports showing the usage and cost of print by location and cost centre on an ongoing basis.
Prioritisation of output – relative to business need
We would analyse your usage by product to agree optimum production quantities ( striking a balance between the economy of scale and the risk of future change ) and also look to ‘ group ‘ like items for production to optimise production consistency and beyond; thus ensuring the best possible use of your budget is made relative to production output.
The area of work programme focuses on the following key area.
Effective and regular communication with your nominated marketing staff and brand / creative agency partners throughout the production process from initial scoping through to planning, testing, review, live production and issue.
Our commitment to this is absolute. We will allocate a dedicated project manager to head up all meetings and project interaction with your staff and key creative partners to ensure that all stages of the process are properly planned and accurately executed.
Engendering production output accuracy & consistency
The process required to ensure this objective is met begins with material standardisation. In terms of paper and board stocks we would agree with you a range of finishes that reflect the breadth of your current and future output; from uncoated stocks through to art papers and specialist card / board substrates we would review market options on your behalf and propose stocks that would provide you with the following.
- Cost effectiveness
- Good availability in the range of sheet and reel formats required
- High whiteness and opacity
- Triple coating (for art papers) to ensure optimum printability
- A secondary range of materials should there be any future interruption in supply of first choice stocks
- Environmental / Sustainability characteristics (if required) centering on FSC. and PEFC accredited materials, with recycled content as deemed appropriate.
Once core paper and board stocks are selected, we will then add to these a list of other substrates required for wider areas of your brand execution; from signage materials, through to vinyls, plastics, clothing and earthenware.
Having established preferred materials we would then undertake a scientific review of your brand colours, both represented out of spot colour and CMYK through the use of spectra – photometric and densito – metric analysis. This effectively scientifically defines colour depth and reflectance under a range of standard light temperatures; thus removing the subjectivity traditionally associated with print output.
Armed with agreed standardised material choices and a scientific definition of your required colours we would then undertake a range of print production tests spanning all of the agreed substrate range and encompassing litho, digital, screen printing and powder coating devices using selected specialist supply partners. We would ensure that output quantities of test materials are such that you and your marketing teams are provided with an output guidelines pack representing all of your various outputs on agreed materials to agreed colour standards.
In addition we would hold sufficient test material to issue samples against which all production would be matched for any future live productions, across a wider tranche of suppliers for every product category and volume break.
We believe our responsibilities extend to well beyond accurate and timely production management and would seek to provide a ‘ prevention – based ‘ approach to supporting your brand before products even go to a printing press.
A clear understanding of your brand guidelines would enable us to audit all artwork you provide to us. On an ongoing basis we will extend pre – flight file analysis to incorporate brand – specific elements such as spot colour and CMYK breakdown reviews, positional verification of text and logos, font type and size usage and image resolution against agreed brand parameters.
We would feed back to your creative partners and marketing team in respect of any non – compliant artwork received. In this way we ensure we provide not only a ‘ safety net ‘ with regard to accurate brand output but also a means for continuous improvement in the direct inputs that drive the output for which are primarily responsible.
